Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox Guide – Best Decks & Cards

Your guide to Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox Legend in Riftbound TCG: Overview of its meta status, sample decks, cards, and synergies.

Innately connected to the magic of the spirit realm, Ahri is a fox-like vastaya who can manipulate her prey's emotions and consume their essence—receiving flashes of their memory and insight from each soul she consumes. Once a powerful yet wayward predator, Ahri is now traveling the world in search of remnants of her ancestors while also trying to replace her stolen memories with ones of her own making.

Overview

One of Runeterra's most charming creatures, OGN-255 will always be a fan favourite for players and fans alike. Her ability to control a lane and use her magic to keep the balance in her favour has translated well into her gameplay in Riftbound. Released in the Origins set, the Calm-Mind legend looks to manipulate units' might to control the battlefield.

The Nine-Tailed Fox is a one-sided coin, designed to be great at holding a battlefield and score points as she does, but having no impact as the attacker. This translates to an aggressive strategy early on in order to seize control of said battlefield. From there, Ahri will leverage her ability to force the opponent into attacking with few units. The trick is: Blue and Green cards are quite good against one single attacker. Indeed, the likes of SFD-040 or SFD-053 will basically cancel the attack, while we pack many buffs for our own unit.

Overall, Ahri will naturally be strong against a flurry of attackers, while she packs a few fantastic cards for large single threats. In that context, the hardest part with this legend is managing to get set on a battlefield early. Once in that position, Ahri has plenty of ways to keep that position, and hold her way to victory.

Spiritforged Ahri Deck

Ahri Signature Cards

OGN-066 and OGN-119 both see play in Ahri decks, but never at the same time. Indeed, while the Blue Ahri is the more flexible one, typically used as the game 1 champion, Green Ahri waits in the side deck for her time to see play.

The champion unit we play will impact how we build our curve. OGN-066 is more of a strong standalone unit, while OGN-119 can win the game if we managed to keep it at a battlefield for multiple turns. Typically, the 5-cost will be better suited against opponents with a weaker removal kit. Against those, it is fine to play a bit slower early on, as we know we will score two to three points per turn once in control of a battlefield.

Unfortunately, OGN-256 is out of the picture in Spiritforged. The card isn't bad at all but it is difficult to keep three runes open except when OGN-073 is at a battlefield. With that in mind, the signature spell will only be used as a hidden card, which is risky in this Chaos led metagame, a domain able to move units away from a battlefield.

Ahri Staple Cards and Synergies

Ahri remained true to her hold oriented play style from the origins metagame. However, the pace is now much faster, meaning we can't patiently wait for OGN-122 anymore. Instead, the Nine-Tailed Fox has been building for more flexibility and interaction with opposing cards.

The likes of OGN-067 or OGN-073 will help anchor her position once set on a battlefield. Plus, those will receive help from plenty of spells, such as SFD-040, OGN-045 or OGN-057.

Before those cards can come into play, it is crucial to actually seize said battlefield. To help with that task, Ahri will pack a good amount of buffs through SFD-034 or OGN-058. It is important to find those cards able to serve both to conquer or hold, or you run the risk of having plenty of useless cards until you managed to conquer. This is why Ahri still runs three copies of OGN-116, as it even a hold oriented deck would be silly not to use one of the best conqueror units in the game.
