Nanjing Regional Open Results – Popularity, Conversion Rate & Best Deck for Every Legend!

Nanjing Regional Open Results – Popularity, Conversion Rate & Best Deck for Every Legend!

After four regional tournaments in China, we have a tied situation : Draven won the first two, followed by Kai'sa and Annie to show Origin's legends aren't done yet.
In the end, the grand winner of that four week competitive span will be the Fury domain, which managed to win all four regional tournaments.

There is another winner: the ones who still have to play some Riftbound in the Spiritforged set. Indeed, after the first two tournaments, Fuzhou and Chengdu, painted the picture of an unbeatable Draven, the Glorious Executioner failed to be first in anything but popularity in last two events, Dalian and Nanjing.

Last week, Irelia had the best conversion rate while Kai'sa took the win. This time, Annie took both crowns, although Sett also had a 37.5% conversion rate. If we wanted to nitpick, we could attribute the best conversion rate to Kai'sa and her 22.64%, as it is arguably more difficult to get 12 players out of 53 into Day 2 compared to 3 out of 8.

No matter what, the metagame is much more complex now that it was a few weeks ago. Here are the headlines from Nanjing :

  • Annie won featuring a very similar list to her top 8 back in Fuzhou.
SFD-025 and SFD-021 were preferred to OGN-027 in the main deck, while three OGN-192 waited in the side deck for slower match-ups.
Also, OGN-036 and OGN-173 are out of the picture, SFD-145 or OGN-172 allowing to dominate a showdown late in the match.
  • Azir, the other finalist, also played something similar to its best result heading into Nanjing, a Top 32 back in Fuzhou. In this no unit list except for SFD-177 in the champion slot, the legend simply makes the most of its ability, to instead focus on reactive spells and equipment cards.
  • Draven Irelia and Kai'sa all posted strong results overall, although not reaching the finals could be considered a disappointment. Irelia in particular, might go down as the best legend to not reach the big game.
  • Sett and Sivir confirmed they were competitive options in this metagame with a top 16 and 32 respectively. Sett had three Top 64 with little representation up until this point, and managed to add three more with just 8 players entering the tournament. As for Sivir, the Top 4 miracle build from Dalian didn't come back, but she at least proved she is the best legend to play OGN-160 currently.
  • Among the legends with something to prove, Jax and Lux managed to earn their second Top 64 after their first one last week. On the other end, Rek'Sai, Ahri, Leona, and Ornn will end the Chinese regional period with only one.
  • 10 Legends will end up with a Top 128 as their best result after these four regional events. Among them, Miss Fortune is the most disappointing one. Many believed she had some potential considering her strong run towards the end of the Origins metagame, and her domain combination.

Now, the western part of the world is about to enter its own Spiritforged competitive era. During the first set, everyone knew Kai'sa would be the one to beat, with Annie, Sett and Master Yi to also keep in mind.
This time, Draven is the most impactful legend in the metagame. However, with Fiora, Azir and Ezreal making it to the finals, while Kai'sa and Annie each won an event, there is a lot more guessing as to who will win in Bologna this week-end.
