The fully biomechanical evolution of his former self, Viktor has embraced his Glorious Evolution and become something of a messiah to his followers. He sacrificed his own humanity under the logic that eliminating emotion would thereby eliminate suffering—and now seeks to bring the revelation of the hexcore to the rest of the world, even if they're incapable of understanding the benefit. After all, to this master of the arcane, violence is merely a variable necessary to balance the ultimate equation.
Overview
The ultimate form of Hextech's power, OGN-265 is the go-to Token deck in Riftbound's Origins set. Based in the domains of Mind and Order, Viktor aims to use his ability and cards to create tons of small combatants and overwhelm the battlefield strategically.
At first, one might think a token deck has to built around proactive patterns, looking to overwhelm the opponent with a multitude of small, hopefully buffed units. However, Viktor has been playing a control heavy play style lately, relying on the flurry of removals available in the Order and Mind domains. In that strategy, the tokens we summon with our ability aren't designed to fight with opposing units, but instead conquer battlefields we empty beforehand.
This approach is more suited to a metagame featuring Draven, a legend who will happily take out of tokens and draw. Plus, it also improves Viktor in the best-of-3 format, as side decks are typically able to adapt against a token heavy strategy after the first match.
Spiritforged Viktor Deck
Viktor Signature Cards
OGN-117 had a short stint as the chosen champion at the start of Spiritforged, back when Viktor was playing a deck built around removal spells almost exclusively.
Since the western metagame kicked off however, OGN-246 took that slot back, and has been keeping it ever since.
Both cards a very niche, so they don't see play outside of their featured legend. Add the fact OGN-266 does not synergize with a deck not trying to overwhelm the field with tokens, and we have a trio of cards with very little impact on the Spiritforged metagame.
Viktor Staple Cards and Synergies
In Spiritforged, Viktor wants to win through removing opposing units while he continuously generates tokens to conquer empty battlefields. To do so, the Herald of the Arcane needs three type of cards:
- A ton of removal able to deal with all sorts of units, which we have plenty of in the Order and Mind domains.
- Card draw to make sure we won't run out of gas before our opponent, or fall behind because the right removal didn't show up.
- Means to conquer battlefields, with cards able to enter ready, or more ways to generate tokens on top of our ability.
