We can all agree that there is something cool about a champion who doesn’t walk into battle; they ride in.
In League of Legends, most champions walk into battle, but some have something extra, like a mount. Whether it is a beast, a machine, or a cute companion, there is no doubt that these mounts have become part of their identity, as well as their weapons and abilities.
These champions don’t just look different; they are also played differently. In many cases, their mounts are woven directly into their kits and lore.
The good thing is that there are a handful of champions in League of Legends that have a mount. To be honest, this has become kind of a trend for LoL, and we cannot blame them. The champions look different, and players love that.
So, which are the best mounted champions in League of Legends?
Rell
This is one of the most unique concepts that Riot Games has come up with. Rell has a mount unlike any other champion in the roster.
We are talking about an invisible horse. Yeah, quite a concept, right? Rell doesn’t ride a creature in a traditional sense. Instead, her armor itself transforms, allowing her to switch between mounted and unmounted forms.
When she is in her mounted state, she moves faster and feels more agile. No surprise there since the mount (armor) beneath her looks like a Thoroughbred horse that’s about to storm the Kentucky Derby. When she crashes down, she instantly becomes slower but tankier and ready to take on some damage.
The aesthetics of this champion are unreal. The armored invisible horse looks worthy of big races. It kind of inspires you to dive deeper into upcoming horse racing events like the Kentucky Derby and the current prep races leading to the big event.
If you get that betting mindset and urge to watch a horse race, go straight to TwinSpires.com and their highlight of the Kentucky Derby prep races.
Rell, according to Riot’s official champion bio, was raised as a weapon by the Black Rose, and she can manipulate metal. That’s why her “mount,” which looks like a horse, is made from metal.
Sejuani and Bristle
If you’ve ever seen Sejuani coming down a lane, you won’t forget it for the rest of your life. She rides one of the scariest beasts in the game—Bristle. We’re talking about a massive war boar, and the two of them feel inseparable.
According to Riot’s bio, Sejuani is a Warmother of the Winter’s Claw, which is a brutal Freljordian tribe that is all about strength and survival. Bristle, on the other hand, is a symbol of that harsh northern resilience. Her abilities perfectly highlight that image.
Bristle defines her silhouette, and you cannot imagine Sejuani without him.
Kled and Skaarl
Kled is one of the craziest champions in League of Legends and the most mechanically “mounted” champion in the game. He rides Skaar, which is a desert lizard that looks like a bearded dragon. The relationship between them is built directly into his gameplay, which is why he is so fun to play.
When Skaarl takes too much damage, Kled is dismounted and continues on foot. He can remount it when Skaarl restores power.
On top of that, this isn’t just a cosmetic mount. It’s part of how Kled functions in lane and in team fights.
Riot described Kled as a cantankerous yordle warrior with a belief that with his mount, he can do anything. That’s why this duo works so well. Playing Kled feels unpredictable but also very fun.
Nunu & Willump
This is one of the most charming pairings in the game. Nunu rides Willump, who is a yeti traveling through Freljord. These two look and feel inseparable.
However, Willump is more like a companion than a traditional mount, but the little boy still gets on his back as he charges around the map. Nunu sits atop his massive friend and guides him as they roll enormous snowballs across the map.
Riot’s lore highlights their bond as one of friendship and shared adventure, which makes their presence feel warmer and more emotional than purely aggressive riders like Sejuani or Kled.
Corki
Lastly, we have Corki, which doesn’t have a mounted beast but more of a machine that looks like a DIY helicopter (and probably is). The mount is called the ROFL Copter, and it functions like a mount in every single way.
It impacts his mobility, style, and attack combo.
As a yordle aviator, Corki’s entire identity revolves around that flying contraption. Without it, he wouldn’t just lose movement; he’d lose personality.
Final Thoughts
With the latest Riot releases, they haven’t introduced a new traditional mounted champion for a few years. Maybe it is the mechanics, which are probably very difficult to balance correctly. Either way, we would love to see a new mounted champion in the future. But until then, these are our only options.
So, which one is your favorite?
