Leona, Radiant Dawn Guide – Best Decks & Cards

Your guide to Leona, Radiant Dawn Legend in Riftbound TCG: Overview of its meta status, sample decks, cards, and synergies.

Imbued with the fire of the sun, Leona is a holy warrior of the Solari who defends Mount Targon with her Zenith Blade and the Shield of Daybreak. Her skin shimmers with starfire while her eyes burn with the power of the celestial Aspect within her. Armored in gold and bearing a terrible burden of ancient knowledge, Leona brings enlightenment to some, death to others.

Overview

OGN-261 is here to bring her radiant dawn to the world of Riftbound. Her role in League of Legends as an engage support carries over well here. The legend combines Order and Calm domains to make use of the Stun mechanic, allowing Leona to stop opposing units from damaging its own.

Leona the legend is a payoff type of card, rewarding us for stunning opposing units with a buff. In doing so, Leona specialize in showdowns, impacting both the opponent's side through the stun mechanic, and its own with buffs distributed to allies.

Ideally, we are looking to force our opponent to use removal spells to take out our units, as their unit get stunned during showdowns. However, the added Might we get with the buff granted by our legend means they can't use cheap removals. In that scenario, whenever we can block a spell from removing our unit with the likes of OGN-045 or OGN-207, we set our opponent far back tempo wise. From there, the opponent is forced to take even more risks to come back, while we have all the freedom to play proactively.

Leona Signature Cards

OGN-262 is a great spell allowing one to remove an opponent from combat, while adding one of our own. Being an action, this can truly turn the tide of combat, and provides a way to be able to attack alone and bring back up if required, after the opponent showed us how they planned to defend. However, the card is quite expensive tempo wise, as recycling two runes can set us far back if OGN-262 doesn't result in winning that showdown. Although its cost make it a late-game tool first and foremost, its ability to impact a battlefield leads Leona to build around that card.

OGN-079 is the more discreet card of the three, being used exclusively alongside her legend. When she is, she typically will be the chosen champion, while OGN-238 is played three times. The 6-cost can take over a match if not removed quickly, dominating any showdown as long as we can support it with stun effects. However, OGN-079 is also an expensive card with no ability if stuns aren't part of the equation.

On the other hand, OGN-238 has emerged as a solid champion unit, sometimes used in other legend's sidedecks. The card is relatively weak to removal spells with only 4 might, but is a fantastic combatant, either growing to 5 might on defense, or stunning an enemy unit while an attacker.

OGN-238 is a key card to slow down most midrange, unit focused strategies.

Leona Staple Cards and Synergies

Through combining stuns and buffs, OGN-261 has a flurry of strong cards to build around, all with various abilities.

OGN-232 will anchor our mid-game, making the most of receiving a buff. Alongside OGN-238, they form a duo of powerful midrange units Leona can rely upon to build her strategy.

Once a battlefield is under control, OGN-073 can be developed there, and allow Leona to also be reactive during her opponent's turn.

To support those cards, Leona will use three types of spells : Counters, Stuns and Buffs, all resulting in ours units getting beefier and harder to remove. OGN-058 typically is the most important card as it also draws, something this legend can struggle with. Otherwise, the deck will look for cheap cards the opponent has to play around whenever Leona has a few runes available, such as SFD-040, SFD-045 or OGN-207.

Last, Leona's weakness is to interact with opposing units in their base. Indeed, both OGN-262 or OGN-213 are great removals, but only function at a battlefield. To help with that issue, OGN-067 was added to the mix, preventing the opponent from preparing multiple units for an attack.
